Talk:Dimension of the Boomed

"Advertising Copy"[edit]

Regarding this edit, which, aside from the British localization of "recognize", removed:

Quake fans will recognize homages to some iconic set pieces, but the majority of the mapset is original content in a modern style, with well-designed encounters, exquisite lighting, superb technical detailing, and well-hidden secrets.

"Exquisite lighting" is a direct quote from the the Cacoward article. "Superb technical detailing" is a paraphrase of the same article's "... uses the most advanced Boom features and surprising faux-3D mapping tricks to make the game feel like it’s not quite Doom anymore" and covers things like sliding doors, midtexture walls that don't appear flat, custom texture combinations, faux arches, etc. (here's a tutorial example). Finally, "well-designed encounters" and "well-hidden secrets" are admittedly my own opinions (though echoed by others in the release thread and DWMC thread), but I feel they are a fair assessment of the source.--96.29.180.15 18:35, 29 September 2019 (CDT)

Sorry, but if you aren't aware, this site has a long history of issues with promotional editing, which may induce some resistance at first.  That said, if you are willing to do this type of research, that's great — even better if the links were actually in the article so the reader knows who said what.  Are we still having captcha problems with links?    Ryan W (living fossil) 10:11, 4 October 2019 (CDT)
