Talk:Doom 2D - Knee deep in the dead

From DoomWiki.org

Again a broken link.[edit]

This page also only contains a broken external link that ideally should be fixed.

Link to the game[edit]

I'm going through Category:Articles with dead external links, looking for dead links to salvage and I found an archived version of the game's website, which includes a working download link (which I then scanned with Malwarebytes and played). However it obviously doesn't seem like a good idea to be putting download links to random .exe files on a wiki. So I would like to ask for a moderator's opinion on whether this is interesting enough to be added.

The CNET download link works (the current page, NOT an archived version). There are two other URLs on the archived page, which when viewed through web.archive.org: the dukesoft one simply links back to the CNET download, while the yoyogames one doesn't have a working download link at all. But note that both of those URLs, when clicked and not copied, are linked to some sort of an advertising URL shortener (which makes the game's website look a bit shady and all the more potentially unsuitable to be added to the wiki). Hi and welcome to the wiki. Thanks for asking, that's cautious, but linking to the main archived page is fine. With archived sites, parts may no longer work or link to expired domains and such, but being careful with those would be the responsibility of the user (as is all exploration of the "intharnet"). I added the live CNET link to attract most/all downloading attention anyway. --Xymph (talk) 10:23, 11 March 2022 (CST)
