Talk:Doom 3 locker codes

Recent changes[edit]
Have people actually been verifying these? This is one of the most looked-up/searched-for pages on the wiki, it needs to be 100% correct. --Quasar (talk) 12:45, 18 August 2022 (CDT)
- I have approved some changes under the assumption that there's no logical reason for a player to come here and knowingly enter a wrong code somewhere, but I suppose it is possible that someone was mistaken about a cabinet or its corresponding code or accidentally mistyped one. I played D3 in 2005 (according to my archive of save games) but didn't log codes so no, I didn't really verify anything.
- But the last change reverted the penultimate one, so it seems some player already realized the need to correct that. --Xymph (talk) 16:14, 18 August 2022 (CDT)
- I share Quasar's concerns - misinformation is more destructive long-term than outright vandalism - but short of extracting the codes directly from Doom 3's data files (assuming anyone has ever managed to do so) I don't see any way to properly verify them. Gauss (talk) 17:37, 18 August 2022 (CDT)
- Most of them (but not all unfortunately) are mentioned in the PDA texts. Takes a while to go through all of that though. The ones that are not there are found in the environment of the levels, for example on sticky notes. Those are difficult w/o spending the time to go there in-game. --Quasar (talk) 09:25, 19 August 2022 (CDT)
- I just bought Doom 3 because it was on sale on Steam, and am planning to play it soon. Maybe I could double-check them as I go? Robotcthulhu (talk) 20:10, 20 August 2024 (CDT)
- That would be very helpful indeed. Have a good playthrough. --Xymph (talk) 03:12, 21 August 2024 (CDT)
- I'm planning to record it for my YouTube channel, would it be appropriate to add my videos as additional citations? Also, should the codes be the same in BFG Edition and standard? Robotcthulhu (talk) 19:31, 24 August 2024 (CDT)
- Any video linked here should pertain purely to the locker codes, not the rest of the playthrough, so I imagine that would incur quite a lot of editing. Also, it shouldn't become a cite-fest with dozens of links, but a single playlist in the links section would be okay I think. As far as we (I asked Quasar on IRC) know, all codes should be the same in both versions, just a few changes in how they're acquired. --Xymph (talk) 10:29, 25 August 2024 (CDT)
- The editing shouldn't be a problem, I can do that in my free time. I'll just make a video from all the clips and cite it when I'm done. Robotcthulhu (talk) 09:58, 26 August 2024 (CDT)
- If you do the editing in your free time, when do you play/record? During work? :-) Anyway, that sounds acceptable. Meanwhile, here is an edit that could your verification once you get around to that area. So, cross-checking whether codes on individual level pages correspond with the table here would also be valuable. --Xymph (talk) 06:11, 30 August 2024 (CDT)
- OK, thanks! Robotcthulhu (talk) 17:22, 2 September 2024 (CDT)
