Not a dedicated Doom creator[edit]

The content associated with this talk page was considered for deletion, and either was deleted, or was kept after a period of discussion. This page has been retained for historical reference regarding the deletion process, or in case of future restoration of any deleted content.

I mean, come on? I don't find this appropriate for this wiki. Doing a couple of videos on Doom games in between hundreds of others doesn't make you an article subject on a wiki about Doom. Delete from me as well. If making a popular YT review about Doom is all that is necessary to qualify for an article than LGR, Ahoy and ActionButton all need their own article added asap. I'm also in favor of deleting the recent IcarusLIVES. I don't see why Doomtubers in general need their own article unless they are also mappers or musicians of some sort, like decino for instance. People who are far more important in the Doom community, like Zeromaster, do not have their own article, either, after all. --Gregor (talk) 17:31, 18 December 2022 (CST)

I don't agree with the second half to be honest. Zero-Master does have a page, but what makes him more important than the likes of MtPain or decino? Would decino not be notable if he didn't make music and maps? His following is massive, fair to say it goes well beyond the main Doom community. A lot of interest in our modding scene has and will continue to be generated by the content that these people make, that definitely doesn't sound unimportant to me. --Eris Falling (talk) 17:44, 18 December 2022 (CST)

Good to know that zero-master has his own page; didn't know he was spelled that way... Yeah, tricky question. If reach is the defining criterion than, again, Ahoy's Doom video has over 4.4 million views. Karl Jobst has several videos in the millions that focus on speedrunning achievements. LGR has a lot of very popular Doom videos uploaded as well. decino would qualify either way because he also has the analysis video series which has an enormous reach. Same thing could probably be argued for MtPain and his Dean of Doom series. But both of these are dedicated Doom channels. --Gregor (talk) 18:14, 18 December 2022 (CST)

The point here isn't so much the notability aspect. The point is that we have absolutely no use, nor need, for one-line stub pages such as these: they are thoroughly unwelcome because they are essentially null contributions that simply demand that someone clean them up - and I, as many others, already have enough on my plate as it is without having to worry about documenting these personalities properly. If someone is willing to do so, absolutely be my guest, but one-line pages like these are just a drag on the overall wiki. The page should be deleted as a result until a better one is made, in which case it can be created again, which was Quasar's entire point originally, by the way. But the method of "oh, I'll just create a one line page, I'm sure someone else will spend hours of their daily free time to fix what I couldn't be bothered to document properly" is neither welcome nor appreciated, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that. My main point: I'd far prefer that cases like these be handled on a content-creators list article, where minor creators or occasional Doom coverage - Gmanlives DOES have some major videos (and a couple notorious incidents involving them), they're just not the focus of his content, which is ultimately game reviews. --Quasar (talk) 00:26, 19 December 2022 (CST)

Gonna drop by and say hard agree to delete by the same reasons stated by Quasar. I personally welcome channels about doomtubers as long as they are well written and provide sufficient body of work (not just any channel, but actual channels that have created Doom content for years), but in this case it is just not appropriate for this wiki. Merge My main takeaway from this discussion is that they may not be notable individually, but perhaps we could have a single article indexing prominent representation of Doom on YouTube? List creators and some of their relevant videos. My motivation for starting this article in the first place was as a means of providing context for sources I have been adding to mod articles and that would provide that.
