Dragon Claw pulling corpses?[edit]

I cannot find anything about this behavior. Sometimes when you kill a monster its corpse is suddenly pulled towards the player. I think it only happens when the monster is on a ledge or the like. I am curious why this happens. 165.225.72.120 06:34, 18 May 2018 (CDT)

It's a Doom engine behavior that happens when a certain amount of damage is done to monsters whose origins are above the player, which is meant to make them appear to do a "stunt fall" like a bad guy in an old Western movie, where they usually turn sort of sideways and tumble off a balcony dramatically. IIRC, the comment on the line of code in question says "make fall forwards sometimes". --Quasar (talk) 06:19, 18 May 2018 (CDT)
Thank you! I never would have guessed to google for something of that kind. I had no idea it was intended and a doomworld thread answered the rest and why it is more extreme in Heretic. https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/67761-monsters-jump-forward/ 165.225.72.120 06:14, 18 May 2018 (CDT)
