Verification of the pending edit[edit]
I made several tests in the yard of E4M1: Catafalque after killing the other enemies.
The combination of the Gauntlets and the Tome of Power does work against the maulotaur. The killing process takes about 37-39 seconds but time is not a problem if the artifact is activated at the moment of attacking. In addition, it's not too difficult to keep the maulotaur under constant pain. Playing with skill 4 (smite-meister), having 12% of health and no armor, I managed in the deed many times in a row. The only phase where there is a severe risk of dying is the beginning as the maulotaur may be lucky enough to hit before the player's health has risen enough.
