Talk:Ghost monster

Step on button 1 to activate the crusher and wait for the pain elemental to die, and then step on button 2 to stop the crusher when it is near the ceiling. After that, step on button 3 to release the arch-vile and see the effect in action.

Sometimes if you run RESRPAIN.wad on doom 95's dos launcher and followed the above steps to resurrect the Pain Elemental, the ghost of the monster will appear, then the game will quit after 5 seconds. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) .

I have tested this level multiple times in Doom95, the vanilla executable (if that's what the writer meant by "doom 95's dos launcher") and Chocolate Doom, and I have never had this crash happen to me. Odd... The Green Herring 21:11, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Non-ghost resurrected PEs?[edit]

Another off-the-cuff-but-might-be-brilliant remark from Enjay: [1].  It does sound like a tic-perfect coincidence of timing, though, so maybe only a debugger (or somebody who can think like one while reading the code) could confirm or deny with certainty.    Ryan W 22:25, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Am I right in thinking that it is always possible to kill a ghost monster through infighting? I've tried it on MAP05 of Gather2 (Dark Side of the Mind) and it works on that map. I was thinking it would be worth mentioning in the article if it is possible. --Rootof2 (talk) 14:49, 17 February 2016 (CST)

Depends. Projectiles will miss, but monsters' melee attacks do direct damage through a function call which cannot be stopped or avoided in any way once it starts. So, ghost monsters ought to be able to scratch/bite/punch each other if the melee range check passes. --Quasar (talk) 16:07, 17 February 2016 (CST)
