Excess content in redirects

It's my understanding that MediaWiki doesn't interpret anything in an article after the #REDIRECT directive. Was the redirect actually showing up in the category? --Quasar (talk) 17:19, 26 May 2015 (CDT)

Yes, that's how I noticed.  AFAIK "not interpret anything" was once the case, but more recent MediaWiki versions do pick up certain things, while still avoiding a full page parse.    Ryan W (talk) 20:14, 26 May 2015 (CDT)
