Port[edit]

I have approved the edit for now, but a question should remain on whether this really changes the intended port of the PWAD, or if this more generally means these are simply unintended bugs that should be treated as such without the intended port changing otherwise. I cannot give an answer one way or the other here. --Dynamo128 (talk) 03:03, 4 September 2023 (CDT)

Some more background: I asked in the DSDA speedrunning Discord about what limit-removing means since I had these strange maps that seemed to be for Boom, and was told that some wads are plain mislabeled. I concluded this was one such example, as it seems this map pack was mistakenly only max-tested with a Boom port, and because parts dont work outside of that environment it's best played with a Boom port. I think it's reasonable to override the wad author's own words when the facts of the maps contradict. I am not aware of more wad examples like this, perhaps except for Arrival, but only map32 there (a bonus map not part of the campaign) was mistakenly built for Boom which does not seem sufficient to warrant a wad relabeling. I also heard of mixed compatibility wads, but don't know of any. In any case, the compatibility disclaimer on the page is immediately useful to anyone reading before playing. Maybe "limit-removing*" was more appropriate? Inuk (talk) 05:13, 4 September 2023 (CDT)
Fwiw, this has been known for a long time, although I can't confirm whether the maps are cl9 and mislabled or it's mixed compat. I forgot to check the compat on this page when writing it :P Seem most speedrunners regard this a cl9 wad anwyay. --BuildCat (talk) 01:40, 29 October 2023 (CDT)
