Talk:Scythe 2

From DoomWiki.org

Some info[edit]

The last three maps were actually never made (the article seems to imply they exists but are not released.) Erik made all maps in s2 in order of appearance more or less, only going to back to fix bugs. He did start making map28 a couple of times, but were never satisfied with the result (mainly because he felt it had to be better then map27). After having it laying around for almost as long as it took to make the rest of the wad without working on it he decided to release the wad as is.

The Afrit sprites were, as with all resources (except title pics and status bar) in scythe 2, scavenged from some other wad. I think it was a ZDoom wad with new monsters.

The awesome status bar and white big font is the result of Anders_A's mad photoshopskills. 213.114.179.188

Misspelling[edit]

The misspellings page complains about "pharoah".  But if that's really what it says in the readme file, is it a misspelling, strictly speaking?  Maybe he did it on purpose.  Even if he didn't, it seems like we have enough editing to do here without crusading against anomalies on the balance of the web as well.    Ryan W 03:47, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hmm, I had figured it was just a typo in the text file, but CWILV09 shows it as "Pharoas Tomb" as well. I don't know if it was misspelled on purpose, but I edited the page to show it as Pharoas Tomb for now. DomRem | Yeah? 12:08, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)
In the 2 releases of scythe2, both the text file and CWILV09 write it as "PHARAOS TOMB", with a missing 'h' and no apostrophe. I can't find any sources that switch the positions of the 'a' and 'o', so I assume that "Pharoas Tomb" is a misspelling on doomwiki's part alone. I haven't been able to confirm that the missing 'h' and apostrophe in "PHARAOS TOMB" are unintentional, but I believe so. Considering an apostrophe was added to "Map 24: Gaia's Temple" (which seems reasonable to me) I'm proposing a change to correct the spelling. Coincident 15:20, 13 Feb 2025 (UTC)
Let's cover what was released instead of speculating about the author's intentions. --Gregor (talk) 10:06, 13 February 2025 (CST)

Screenies[edit]

I’ve got many screenies of Scythe 2, I’ll post them whenever the map pages will be done. Ducon 16:32, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Afrit[edit]

I think that the problem with the links is that the Afrit page should be renamed [[Afrit (Hexen)]]. Ducon 05:15, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't think so: it would only be worth doing that if there was enough material to write an article on a different use of Afrit, which there isn't. -- Jdowland 11:42, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

So the Afrit in Scythe 2 won’t have any wikilink? Ducon 11:45, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes. I don't think there is a need to have it outside the Scythe 2 article. Enlarge the section if you want to add more info on it. On another note, the Scythe 2 Afrit bears a resemblence to the Hell Hunter (The Scythe 2 Afrits sprites were made before the Hell Hunter was made, AFAIR.) -- TheDarkArchon 12:41, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
