Talk:Sprites flickering across ledges or lifts


Is this bug the same as the one that causes corpses and dropped weapons to sometimes be visible on the other side of a closed door (because the sprite is larger than the object's radius)?    Ryan W 23:09, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

What is this bug?[edit]

I personally saw it only once or twice, on shovelware maps.  There was some room with a small pillar in the center, which was a lift.  Imps would cross the lowered lift and stick on the edge, and then very occasionally flicker vertically between the two heights while trying to walk or attack.  I suppose one might attempt a demo on a custom WAD with a similar structure (assuming it wasn't a VGA-specific glitch in the first place).  I'll put it on my list though.    Ryan W (usually gone) 16:57, 22 February 2017 (CST)
This can happen in Strife, in the Loremaster's lab, in two different places. Some medikits near the large moving pillar that the Loremaster spawns on are slightly inside the ledge, so the movement of the floor (which affects a much larger area than necessary due to the blockmap) will cause these objects to jump up and down off the ledge behind them. Additionally, the blazing door in the area with the "Becoming" acolytes will cause the ones on the lowest row to flicker in the same manner as it closes, and for the exact same reason. The necessary condition seems to be having been placed at a lower Z height while being slightly inside a 2S linedef bordering a higher sector, and then becoming subject to the action of P_ChangeSector. --Quasar (talk) 10:26, 23 February 2017 (CST)
