Talk:Thing types

I don't have anything constructive to say here, but I really like the care and thoroughness with which this page has been assembled.  Quite inspiring.   :>      Ryan W 18:17, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)

cmdr keen[edit]

On what basis is keen considered a monster? I think he's as much a monster as a barrel (which we are considering an obstacle). -- Jdowland 10:27, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC)

You do have a point... but I assume he's in that table because he counts toward a level's KILLS percentage.   Ryan W 15:34, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC)

The game engine also continuously tries to respawn Commander Keens in Nightmare mode, showing that it is actually being thought of as a monster -- one which happens to not move or do anything interesting aside from die.--Quasar 06:00, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Then the Boss Brain should be removed from the list of monsters as it does not count towards kill percentages (nor does it respawn, or disappear on -nomonsters), or the definition should be changed (which would allow Keen to be moved to obstacles). --Splarka (talk) 07:50, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
How would you feel about moving the boss brain to the last table (with the cube shooters and spawn spots — also not flagged), but keeping the Icon in Template:Doom monsters?    Ryan W 16:15, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Sounds fine, since the Icon of Sin is described as a monster in the end text: "THE HORRENDOUS VISAGE OF THE BIGGEST DEMON YOU'VE EVER SEEN CRUMBLES BEFORE YOU, AFTER YOU PUMP YOUR ROCKETS INTO HIS EXPOSED BRAIN. THE MONSTER SHRIVELS UP AND DIES, ITS THRASHING LIMBS DEVASTATING UNTOLD MILES OF HELL'S SURFACE"... so it is still a monster in the context of the game. --Splarka (talk) 21:56, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
