Compatibility[edit]

This wad is designed for ZDoom:

  • The only recommended port in the txt is ZDoom
  • It is unplayable (see MAP03, MAP04) when playing on a limit-removing, otherwise vanilla engine, like that which DSDA-Doom can emulate with complevel 2.

The txt saying it's for limit-removing ports is a half truth; Vae Victus requires the gameplay-modifying feature of use presses passing through walk-over trigger linedefs. This is an added feature that ZDoom (and GZDoom) enables by default. What I'm posting here is a justification for when I eventually change the target mentioned on this article from limit-removing to ZDoom. See Sacrament for precedent.
