Talk:YouTube

Is this even needed here? It seems a bit useless. InsanityBringer 14:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Reminds me of this... CODOR 15:28, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Indeed.  There is no agreed-upon notability standard for this kind of thing, but for a web site whose content includes Doom only tangentially, I think some unique historical relevance is needed (by comparison, we have an article about shareware, but I don't think we would have one about FTP, which was far more important to Doom than YouTube will ever be).  That's just my opinion obviously — feel free to nominate this for deletion to get more opinions.    Ryan W 17:53, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I really don't see the point of this article. Shareware is at least somewhat relevant as Doom was released as shareware. I could even say FTP might be feasible, for an article similar to websites, IRC or forums (not an article that just says "FTP stands for file transfer protocol and is used to upload and download files ... "). But as you said, Youtube only relates to Doom "tangentially", so I see little reason for this article to exist.
The user who created this article linked to it beforehand in Fan-made Doom movies, which I have removed. Bloodshedder 12:02, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Delete. People wanting to provide linked encyclopedic info for a generic or non-Doom related subject are better off adding a Wikipedia wikilink (or maybe to another Wikia wiki if a specialized subject requires it). Who is like God? 22:30, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Unless someone points out a notable culture of Doom sub-communities within youtube (analogous to the IRC article as mentioned above), I entirely agree with the previous comment.  Delete.    Ryan W 22:40, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
