A taunt is an unlockable player character animation found in the multiplayer component of Doom (2016). Taunts are selected as part of a player's armor configuration and can be performed at any time during a match, or while the player character is being displayed on the post-match podium when a ranking has been obtained. Performing taunts during matches is usually not advisable as the player will be left open to attack for the duration of the animation.
The base game included four categories of taunts. The three downloadable content expansions each added an additional set. The final total of taunts available is 225. All of the taunts are based on stock motion capture data. Since conversion of multiplayer progression to a level-based system with Update 6.66, all taunts are unlocked simply by playing the game.
