Parameter for secret exit[edit]

Following on from this thread, I am testing a new parameter to address fx's creative decision.  See here and here.  The advantage of this method is that map articles need not be mass-edited when the URLs change again (which eventually they will, a concept which has been under discussion recently).  :>   Comments most welcome, especially about possible MW performance issues, as I have neither the data nor the intuition to judge such in advance.    Ryan W (talk) 11:43, 27 February 2016 (CST)

New parameters require null values[edit]

Regarding this — speaking as an incompetent coder, I don't actually believe additional work is needed.  The template still does the intended job, it's just not quite as flexible as we thought.  Should someone want to try, however, paste this into Special:ExpandTemplates:

* {{competnmap|2|222|MAP21|nonmc=}}
* {{competnmap|2|222|MAP21|nonmc=0}}
* {{competnmap|2|222|MAP21|nonmc=true}}
* {{competnmap|2|222|MAP21|nonmc=muffins}}

The first, third, and fourth lines should drop the NM100S link (according to the statements I removed).  Currently only the first does.    Ryan W (talk) 16:42, 23 March 2016 (CDT)

An empty value falls into the "undefined" case, which no other value will fall into AFAIK. I'd have to double check the ancient tome that is the MediaWiki wiki though. PS please see Talk:Knee-Deep in the Dead for an idea on remediating situations where this template would be used 4-5 times in a row. --Quasar (talk) 20:08, 23 March 2016 (CDT)
