Template talk:Hexen monsters

Lowercase[edit]

Any reason for this template to be all in lowercase? Looks bad and doesn't follow the global style of the wiki. --Kyano 10:35, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Our "global style" is not very detailed, and usually not even written down, so inconsistencies often occur.  In this case, the idea is that "imp" and "revenant" are not proper nouns, any more than "cat" and "bird", so they default to lowercase (as someone explained here).  Myself I would capitalize them in navboxes since they're being used more as article titles than to signify the actors, until you actually click through and read the page text itself, and I think it looks less polished this way, but not everyone agrees.    Ryan W 14:21, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
An imp, as you have said, is not a proper noun, but I personally consider navboxes to be lists, and elements in lists should start with a capital letter. --Kyano 14:26, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
I don't think a consensus was ever really reached but I do agree with Kyano - it may make sense to lowercase monster names in articles where they are used constantly, but in the listbox templates it just looks weird. --Quasar 14:33, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Now that I noticed Template:Doom monsters is lowercase as well. And yes it looks ugly. Unless somebody opposes, I will fix the capitalisation in all the templates. --Kyano 14:37, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
