Can we use a different illustration for this template? If we cannot use the Zenimax logo, maybe the Doom cover could be a good reference.

Example:

id Software - ZeniMax era

Why should we deviate from standard practice? Current id is already working on their next game, Quake Champions, which has nothing to do with Doom at all, so its cover doesn't really adequately sum up the subject matter. This makes use of it purely decorative, which doesn't meet fair use requirements. Another template which follows the "Use the corporate logo" precedent is {{Williams}}. --Quasar (talk) 09:40, 28 October 2016 (CDT)
It doesn't need to be the Doom cover, actually. The reason why I would prefer a new illustration is that, in my pov, the use of the same image for the two templates could confuse some people. In addition, I think it's a nice touch. But anyhow, just to understand better: what the problem with the Zenimax logo? 200.100.54.37 04:58, 29 October 2016 (CDT)
The template shows the id Software logo from the era. It just so happens that id Software haven't changed their logo in a long while. I suppose you could use a different color scheme if you really want -- see this straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. The ZeniMax logo corresponds to ZeniMax, not id. --Gez (talk) 06:00, 29 October 2016 (CDT)
Alright. The 2016 website uses a new color scheme. 200.100.54.37 06:20, 29 October 2016 (CDT)
The new different colored version works, I think. It creates contrast but is still accurate. --Quasar (talk) 10:05, 29 October 2016 (CDT)

Background[edit]

The white background on the 200x template is there because the image is a transparent SVG. There was no need to add a white fringe to this template's logo just to accomodate that background color. --Quasar (talk) 15:20, 29 October 2016 (CDT)

  • Delete. Was superseded by {{Id Software}} long ago. --Xymph (talk) 11:23, 19 April 2023 (CDT)
