Skill level headers of the thing table[edit]

Having seen that Unmaker changed the skill level headers in Community Chest 4 articles from numbers to letter abbreviations, I thought of bringing the following up.

Back in September 2012, Ryan W approved a very similar edit and added the following note:
A very minor benefit if any, and doesn't match Template:Map_skel, but looks well-intentioned enough.

The vast majority of pages that are connected to the standard Doom skill levels have the ITYTD / HNTR / HMP / UV / NM codes instead of numbers 1 - 5 that the template uses at the moment. I guess it has been thought that the skeleton could be used for non-Doom level pages as well. However, since the amount of Doom content is pretty overwhelming (and will likely be in the future, too), I suggest that the numbers in the template would be replaced with the letter abbreviations as has been done in the linked changes.

If there has been the idea of standardizing all existing thing tables to this 1 - 5 system, I oppose it. The ITYTD etc. system is clear enough, in my opinion, and considering that there are hundreds of pages that currently use the abbreviation system, it would be quite an effort to get them all equal. Once again, why to fix something that is not broken?

It was I who originally wrote the CC4 articles. They were my first contributions to the Doom Wiki and although I used numbers for the skill levels, I've used the ITYTD format ever since, so I'm all for changing this. What does annoy me though is that I was oblivious to the existence of this template for all this time. That sucks. --Eris Falling 18:26, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
