The DWmegawad Club is a monthly event taking place on the Doomworld forums. Each month, a new megawad is chosen by Darryl Steffen (dobu gabu maru), and forum users are encouraged to play through it and post commentary on the maps, at an average rate of one level per day. The concept, and the name, were originally suggested by Sebastian Graham (General Rainbow Bacon).[1]
The only rule is that players can only post comments on a map up to the current day of the month; e.g. reviews of MAP06 cannot be posted until the 6th of the month (this rule may be varied slightly depending on circumstances). Some installments focus on multiple mapsets.
Most threads begin with a picture of a screenshot from the mapset being played, with the DWMegawad Club logo superimposed on top, with a marine and a tea-drinking baron of Hell in a robe commenting on the PWAD and sometimes providing puns on its title. The marine comes from the ending screen of Thy Flesh Consumed; the baron of Hell is from a picture named baronofhellbyvortexrike.jpg, suggested by Glen McColl (glenzinho).[2]
