The Forsaken Plains is the tenth level of Doom: The Dark Ages. The Doom Slayer is sent into Hell to assault Prince Ahzrak’s fortress. Meanwhile, using information supplied by Bishop Kreed, Ahzrak and The Witch learn of Commander Thira’s connection to the Heart of Argent and plot to kidnap her.
The ballistatron is introduced as an enemy in this level. The rocket launcher is introduced as a weapon. It uses the music tracks "The Prince" as ambience, and "Infernal Chasm" as combat music.

Insparation and development[edit]
According to Hugo Martin the portal on the platform where the cyberdemon toy is located was originally intended to lead to another section of the map. Also the level was shortened because it was too long.[1]
