Name removal[edit]

Hi, the wiki has a process for name changes, and normally your request would suffice. But the wiki prides itself in representing information consistently, so in your situation I need to point out that, yes, this creates an above-average hassle. Removing the real name only from your own page makes little sense unless it is also removed everywhere else, which means renaming your category and updating 70-80 pages. Some of that can be scripted, but it is still a significant effort, while the real name remains visible elsewhere anyway, and remains well known for such a long-time and respected community member. So I'd like to ask: is it really meaningful and important to make this change?

Btw, regardless of the real name, keeping the former "doom_kid" alias in the article is useful so that searches for this old spelling (e.g. because of this work) still lead to the correct result. --Xymph (talk) 03:59, 25 May 2022 (CDT)

A quick pointer to what already happened somewhat prematurely. Your view on the above would still be very relevant. --Xymph (talk) 03:01, 26 May 2022 (CDT)
Sorry 'bout that, didn't see this pending conversation. The only thing I will note is that it is not a hard requirement to remove the name everywhere if the only location that is problematic in Doomkid's view is this one. Similar requests have been made before where the person was, for example, OK with their name occurring on wad pages or in their mapper category but simply didn't want it trumpeted on a person page. Likewise some people have entirely requested that they not have person pages at all but are still extensively mentioned due to their authorship activities. --Quasar (talk) 03:07, 26 May 2022 (CDT)

Since there are so many pages where it would need to be changed manually - don't worry about it. I didn't think about just how much of a hassle this would be, so I'm OK with leaving it as-is, I'm sorry for the trouble.

I see now that the page has been changed - thank you so much, I really do appreciate it! --Doomkid (talk) 04:28, 28 May 2022 (CDT)
