New person articles[edit]

Hi, and welcome to the wiki. Adding released projects to people's body of work sections is good, but please be restrained in creating new person articles themselves. There are criteria for that and even then, one map in one release that itself isn't covered (yet) on the wiki doesn't imply the person article needs to be created already. Because the effect is that nothing links to it and it links to nothing, i.e. it becomes orphaned and a dead end. It's better to avoid this. I (reluctantly) approved and improved the Hitboi article now that it's there, but let's not make a habit of this. :-) Thanks. --Xymph (talk) 09:48, 31 October 2021 (CDT)

10 Line Genocide episode listings[edit]

Out of curiosity, is there a particular reason as to why you essentially undid my edit on your person page? In my mind, it makes more sense to list the episodes preceding the map slots - which is basically what I did - instead of being specified in parentheses after the map title. Moreover, I have to respectfully object to how you think the episodes were "not properly denoted" in the edit I made. I do acknowledge that I'm nitpicking in a way, but if I can be frank, your way of specifying the episodes doesn't make sense to me from a stylistic standpoint. I'll let others discuss the details of that and decide whether your edit is worth undoing, though. --MF38 (talk) 12:23, 10 September 2023 (CDT)

It does make more sense, I agree, and maybe I didn't have to say "not properly denoted", but the way episodes in non-UDoom wads are denoted seems to be most commonly within brackets like that. I mainly just did it for consistency among other pages though I'm willing to be proven wrong about that since I'm not 100% on how exactly it works, having it within brackets just seems to be the common way of doing things to me. --NiGHTS108 (talk) 13:10, 10 September 2023 (CDT)
Well, I do see your argument for consistency after looking at a few other such listings I was able to find. On that note, the page can stay the way it is as far as I'm concerned. Sorry for the trouble. --MF38 (talk) 08:20, 11 September 2023 (CDT)

Adding CP listings to person pages[edit]

Friendly advice: when adding community project contributions to person pages, it makes us editors happy if you do so consistently for every person with a wiki article that contributed to a CP, not just your "own" article. --MF38 (talk) 06:54, 2 May 2024 (CDT)

Sounds good to me! Usually I just do it for myself cuz naturally, it's my own page. I'll do that in the future though! :) --NiGHTS108 (talk) 08:57, 2 May 2024 (CDT)
Regarding this edit comment, since you noticed the PUSS uploads, could you also add 30/32/34 to all pertaining mapper pages, per above? And perhaps 31/33 too? Thanks, I already did TC 4/5/6. --Xymph (talk) 05:25, 3 August 2024 (CDT)
Gotcha. I can get on 34 now and I think I could do the 30/32 grind in the next few days. --NiGHTS108 (talk) 17:25, 3 August 2024 (CDT)

Editor status[edit]

That's not me, I am not an admin anyway. The message said "was automatically promoted", it happens based on several criteria. --Xymph (talk) 02:03, 1 October 2024 (CDT)

Ah, got it. Only noticed that after saying thanks, hah, cool! --NiGHTS108 (talk) 05:33, 1 October 2024 (CDT)

Drafting WAD pages[edit]

While drafting the JF4 page in your sandbox was a good idea, that's because it is a notable WAD and part of a notable series, so it will be moved to main space once it gets a stable release. But to do the same for random other WADs, as you seem to suggest here, is another matter. If a WAD is notable and stable, it should be covered in main space from the start. If it is not notable, then keeping it forever in a sandbox is probably not a good idea, although a discussion on that is still ongoing. So the main question is, do you think PPSS is notable enough for wiki coverage, and why? Does that include coverage of individual maps? --Xymph (talk) 07:57, 1 December 2024 (CST)

For one, I'd like to say if PPSS being on my page is a problem then that's completely fine and I can cut all the text. I'm never entirely sure about exactly how notability works if I'm being honest? Especially regarding pages outside of mappers. I'm always a little bit nervous to ask too if I'm being honest though that's not anyone else's fault or anything. I understand this is shaky reasoning, but to be honest I think Pacifist Paradise Secret Santa is notable because I personally enjoy it, and for the second part, I wasn't thinking of specific map pages, no. On the Bloodsport discussion you linked, I usually think back to Nockson saying early on "If the mapset is popular, one of us, the editors, would notice it and make a page". Again though, I don't want to break any rules, so if you think there's an issue here that's completely fine and I'll have it removed. :) NiGHTS108 (talk) 08:51, 1 December 2024 (CST)
