Village of Khalim
From DoomWiki.org
Village of Khalim is the first level of Doom: The Dark Ages. To protect the village's energy reserves, the Doom Slayer is sent to “purify” the village of the demons attacking it and cover the evacuation of its residents.
The imp, imp stalker, pinky rider, shield soldier, soldier, titan and zombie are introduced as enemies in this level. The combat shotgun, power gauntlet and shredder are introduced as weapons. It uses the music tracks "Invasion" as intro cutscene theme, "Unyielding" as ambience , and "Unchained Predator" as combat music.
The Night Sentinels, desperate and broken, saw in him a weapon. Their gods, ever watchful, saw something more. They bestowed upon him strength beyond mortal flesh, speed beyond thought—a gift, now tethered to their will..."

Lore[edit]
Khalim is an outpost and seaport dedicated to the extraction and transport of Primordium Essence, a precursor to Sentinel energy drawn from the remains of prehistoric titans. Its immense energy signature makes it a prime target for invaders, but it boasts heavy fortifications including reinforced walls and towering gun emplacements.

Trivia[edit]
- According to Hugo Martin, Tony Scott's era of 90's action films were a stylistic inspiration for the game's opening scene,[1] and for The Dark Ages in general.[2] Also according to Martin, the moment when, in the end of the intro, the Slayer drops into the battlefield is a partial homage to and inspired by Demolition Man.[3]
