Watcher

The watcher is a class of monster unique to Doom II RPG, with its first appearance as briers in UAC Administration. It appears as a distorted legless skeleton with two giant bony arms, although the arms aren't used for support as the watcher and its variants hover akin to the likes of other flying monsters that appear. Like other RPG enemies, it is declared as a class of monster with three variations, identified by color:
- Brier (tan)
- Watcher (red)
- Sentinel (green)
When agitated and nearby, the watcher class of monsters emit a croaking screech and a hollow roar akin to the revenant. They attack by raising their arms before slamming them to the ground towards the player character, with the resulting slam causing spikes to rise up briefly before hitting the player character. This attack has a maximum range of 3 spaces, and it is nearly a guaranteed hit.
Notes[edit]
- The watcher class seems to always appear during ambushes after VIOS encounters following Cichus Base, and they always appear in groups. The only exception is a lone sentinel-class watcher that appears after obtaining the Soul Cube in Abaddon, though it has a slew of other monsters accompanying it.
