A whiplash slashing at the Doom Slayer.

The whiplash is a monster in Doom: The Dark Ages. It has similar behaviour to its counterpart from Doom Eternal, but is entirely organic rather than cybernetic.

Tactical analysis[edit]

Like its counterpart, the whiplash can swipe at the Slayer with its claws at close range, and can swing bladed whips at medium distance. At long range the whiplash will launch a trio of cross-shaped Hell surges by dragging its whips along the ground.

The melee attacks can be parried using the shield saw, but note that the whiplash can attack twice in a row and both strikes must be parried to daze it. If the whiplash launches Hell surges, only the third, green surge can be parried.

Lore[edit]

Feared even among demons, whiplashes lurk in the shadows of the high priests, a living barrier between Prince Ahzrak and those who seek his ruin. Fierce and cunning, the whiplashes are the keepers of lore, shaping the fate of the damned with their wisdom. They are an insular sisterhood that endures the endless torment of Hell.
