A single zombie

The zombie returns as a fodder enemy in Doom: The Dark Ages. The zombies of The Dark Ages are nearly identical in appearance to the Hell zombie from Doom Eternal.

Tactical analysis[edit]

The lowliest type of monster encountered in the game, zombies are capable only of shuffling slowly towards the Doom Slayer and making equally sluggish attempts to scratch or bite him. However, while they hardly pose an active threat, exercising a degree of caution around them remains advisable – it is not unheard of to run into a zombie accidentally, with fatal results, while moving around the battlefield to deal with more dangerous enemies.

Zombies can be used to replenish your armor, health and ammo in emergencies. Apart from this they can usually be ignored, as they will continually respawn while a combat encounter is taking place, and will normally disappear once the encounter has concluded.

Lore[edit]

Zombies are shambling remnants of Hell's conquests, captive victims from fallen worlds. Corrupted by demonic energy, their distinctive forms and identities are forever lost. Mere thralls of their demon masters, they now wander the battlefields without aim or mind.
