Features[edit]
Zombie Horde 2 introduces big efforts to redefine the mod by introducing much better mod support, scalability, and general gameplay. The mod introduces full support for all previous Zombie Horde beta, mappack and testpack maps, with the intention on supporting more maps in the future as development goes on. One of the many ways the mod tries to improve on its previous version is by introducing a full voting system in which players are free to pick one of three predetermined maps, of which the majority voted map is then picked. Players will also have full control to introduce custom gamemodes extending the familiar survival and escape gamemodes. The mod is also special for being one of the few mods that put great effort into giving clients authority over many of the features that must be processed, which allows for better performance and generally works a lot better compared to mods that put more authority on the server.
History[edit]
In 2016 Xsnake gave development leadership over to FusedQyou. At first the intention was to develop a new version under the name Zombie Horde: The Extinction. However, as development continues the focus of the mod shifted into turning it into a much bigger sequel than anticipated, and with that the name would be changed to Zombie Horde 2.
The development continued slowly until ultimately ending in 2020 as it was deemed to difficult to develop the mod's vision into Zandronum, citing lack of capability by the engine to handle the requested features. On and off development occasionally proceeded until it was ultimately started fresh in late 2023. With this restart the mod has had its vision improved and eventually the development got to a point where it was able to do multiple successful testing sessions. The first beta of Zombie Horde 2 is expected on Halloween, October 31.
